Meet Your Regional Sales Director

Laurie Marks

Why did you get into senior living?

This is a second career for me. Many years ago, my mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease; although my father did an extraordinary job caring for her as the disease progressed, ultimately they moved in with my family and me. She and I had always been best friends, but those years unquestionably strengthened our bond. Fast forward a few more years; looking at where I wanted to place my energy, it was quickly obvious that I had a passion for caring for Moms and Dads. Since making that career switch, it’s clear that this is exactly where I belong.

Who truly inspires you?

Caregivers! I have been so blessed to meet extraordinary care partners, both personally and professionally. The generosity of spirit required to put someone else’s needs above your own, to provide love, safety, care, dignity and warmth fills me with joy and inspires me to be a better person.

A thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I’m pretty transparent, so this question is tough. I’m not at all bothered by snakes or bugs, but I’m terrified of mice.

Beatles or Elvis?

Beatles, WITHOUT question!

How did you wind up at Inspired Living?

About a year ago, my fiancé purchased a house in FL (we lived up north; he in IL, me in NH) because we knew we wanted to live in warmer weather and to live on the water. I started researching companies in in the south, doing a GREAT deal of homework because I KNEW I had to work for a company I was proud to represent. I reached out months before the position became available and with each co-worker I have met, I am even more grateful to be here. (My poor fiancé, however, still has one more Chicago winter to get through before our wedding and he’s able to move down to join me.)

What do you want your legacy to be?

I hope to be remembered as being kind. Life can be hard, and we often don’t know what others are managing. I want people to think of me as being caring and helpful.
